What is the Federation?
The Federated Sportsmen’s Clubs of Ulster County, Inc. is an organization of independent hunting, fishing, trapping, and shooting clubs throughout Ulster County.
The Federation promotes closer relations among outdoor enthusiasts, landowners, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and all others interested in conserving wildlife and other natural resources.
Youth Activities
The Federation supports the Fish & Wildlife Coalition for Youth, and the Future Fisherman Foundation. Our Federation was one of the first in the state to initiate the Lend-A-Pole Program. Many libraries throughout Ulster County participate in this program.
Every spring we hold our annual Youth Expo and Children’s Fishing Contest at Lippman Park in Wawarsing, NY.
Every year the member clubs send over 50 Ulster County youths to NYS DEC Environmental Education Summer Camps.
Money raised by the Federation’s member clubs is also awarded through youth grants.
Education
Realizing the importance of educating our young people as well as adults, member clubs are involved with DEC Hunter Safety Programs, Scouting and 4-H activities.
Wildlife Propagation
The Federation also aids the NYS DEC with stocking thousands of trout and walleye each spring and fall in many of the streams throughout Ulster County.
Legislation
The Federation works closely with our government representatives at the local, state and national levels to emphasize sportsmen’s interests. Pertinent bills are monitored throughout the legislative process in cooperation with the NYS Trappers Association, the NYS Conservation Council, the Conservation Alliance of NY and the US Sportsmen’s Alliance.

Work Party Spring 2024
I’d like to thank the guys that worked their ass off at our property today. We made great progress toward making the property usable in the very near future. John walsh, John Affronti were weedwacking the parking lot and front entrance and around the container and Porta potty along with mowing the entrance and parking lot area. TRay palmer, Sean Miller , Ryan Bollin cut down dead trees, cut trees that had fallen, drug brush into woods , cleared the roadway to the lower field. Ray Valk and John Affronte moved 2 large fallen trees out of the road with the excavator and cleaned out a couple hundred feet of drainage Ditch allowing the lower field to begin to drain all the water that was backed up from years of debris that was blocking it.
Mike Leone, with his antique 8n tractor, worked for hours mowing the field as guys cut and picked up brush. And Ray Palmer prepared lunch for all of us while we worked on the lower field. Robbie Reed, Ryan Bollin, and Sean Miller worked on constructing a foot bridge to access one of the lower fields. Attilio Contini worked on removing weeds from the parkinglot, around gate and container and Joe liuni worked on the storage container. Over all it was a very successful and productive day. Thankyou very much to all that made it possable.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade
So the parade went awesome today! Thank you so much to everyone who was involved and worked so hard to make it a huge success. Natalie and Mike Leone were able to resurrect Eddie Eagle, and Natalie was sweating her ass off in costume for his parade appearance.
Natalie and Lizzy, Mike Leone and his wife, Georganne and Mike, Ray Palmer, Don Bader, Curt Schoberl , John Roebuck, Attilio Contini, my kids Savannah and Jace and myself Had a great time. We handed out 500 flyers that Natalie’s daughter pain stakenly rolled up and tied ribbon around for easy distribution and quickly realized we need double for next year. The crew lightly tossed candy along the parade route, putting smiles on many children’s faces. All in all, it was an amazing day, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. So again, thanks to a great crew that continues to push FSCUC forward into a positive prospective giving us great PR.
Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser
With the help of some amazing volunteers and the use of the Walker Valley Sportsman’s Association, we had a very successful evening on Saturday. We started Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Myself, Ray Palmer, Don Bader, John Griffin and John Roebuck set up tables and chairs that were donated by Dan Greer, made signs, made 50 lbs of meatballs and numerous gallons of homemade tomato sauce and 100 cups of jello. Saturday, myself, John Griffin, and John Roebuck started around noon cooking meatballs getting the sauce hot, slicing bread Etc. Judy Cummings joined us at 3:00 to help prep. Ray Palmer and I put up spaghetti dinner signs in the rain at 4:30 and waited for the 5:00 rush. Kathy Griffin and Judy Cummings served the food, while Jeff Boos collected dinner tickets as people wandered in. We had a steady flow of people in and out between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. We served 80+ people plus takeout orders. We grossed just over $1400 in sales and donations and a net of around $800. All in all, it was a great success. And we could not have done it without our great volunteers. Once Mike Paccione has the final tally, we will present the food pantry with the donation check at the March meeting at Wallkill Rod and Gun Club.

Youth Expo 2023
The Ulster County Youth Expo sponsored by FSCUC held at Lippman Park on June 3rd, 2023, was an amazing day despite the weather. The clouds and light rain did not slow down the kids and their families from coming to the Outdoor Expo, with 125 children registered. The fishing contest had some serious competition at the pond, and yes, we had gear from our Lend-A-Pole program available for those who had none. The kids used so many worms that were donated by Toms Bait Shop on Route 209 that he literally ran out of worms!! And to make things even better there were eight families who had never fished before and were taught the sport of fishing. There were many, many more families at the Archery booth done by Sullivan County Archers with help of our own people, The D.E.C tent had attendance and had some noise and lights from the ATV they brought for kids to sit on, the Ulster County Sheriffs Oracle Tent , and toddler fishing with magnets for stuffed animals that made a hit, and that only mentions a few activities as there was so much more to do. The BB Gun Range had trained instructors who spent the entire day showing proper gun handling and safety to all who stopped into the booth. Every child along with their families were given a free lunch of hotdogs, chips, and water and finished it off with some unbelievably delicious sno-cones. The day of fun was ended by giving out lots of prizes and fishing poles. The FSCUC thanks all who attended the day and look forward to doing another fun-filled event again next year.
