The Wawarsing Rod & Gun Club is proud to host an NYS Approved Hunter Education Course, specifically focusing on Firearms Only. This comprehensive class is designed to equip aspiring hunters with the knowledge and skills necessary for safe, responsible, and ethical hunting practices.
Upon successful completion of the course and scoring 80% or higher on the final exam, participants will earn their NYS Hunter Education Certificate. This certificate does not expire and is a mandatory requirement for purchasing a first-time NYS hunting license, including bowhunting privileges.

- Date & Time: August 30, 2026, from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM EDT. The class length is approximately 7 hours with breaks.
- Location: WRGC Clubhouse, 25 Sportsman Road, Napanoch, NY 12458.
- Instructors: The course will be led by NYS Certified Volunteer Instructors.

Important Information & Requirements:
- Homework: Required before class. All students must bring the completed homework to this course. Homework files are available on the sign-up page. If homework is not completed, you will not be permitted to participate.
- Firearm Handling: Firearm handling and shooting will occur during this class. Please do not bring personal firearms or ammunition to the course. All class equipment and safety equipment will be provided for you.
- Minimum Age: The minimum age for the course is 11 years. The minimum age for purchasing a license is 12 years.
- Parental Permission: All students under 16 years of age must bring a Permission Slip (PDF) signed by a parent or legal guardian.
- Special Accommodations: Some students (those under the age of 12, those with civil or criminal firearms restrictions, or those barred from possessing a firearm) may not be allowed to handle and shoot live firearms during a hunter education course. If this applies to you, please notify an instructor when you arrive for your course, and accommodations will be made.
